I do PRN with this agency. It has been a hassle from the start. I can technically work between a few hospitals in my area and every time I started a new hospital I have no access to any of their systems including Meditech (yuck. Healthtrust is HCA) or any other apps associated with work. My first day ever with them I show up to work and have no access to Meditech or to any of the applications until my recruiter decided to answer me six hours until my shift. Also all the families require me to get a temporary badge EVERY shift for all badge entry areas. They sometimes don’t work so I’m having to ask nurses to open the med room for me etc. And I’m there about twice to three times a week and it’s really annoying. I also have to ask for pyxis access every single shift and usually don’t get that in a timely manner. My “badge” which is useless won’t let me do blood sugars because I don’t have access. I feel like more of a hassle than help to these units. They highly suggest you book shifts through the app, but a lot of the hospitals don’t actually put their needs on the app so I’m having to call the staffing office which usually never answers and if they do they’re not very helpful. The last shifts I’ve had, three to be exact, have been scheduled through the staffing office and “comfirmed”. I show up at 6 AM and the unit has no idea I was coming. One of those times I was sent home, the other I ended up floating to another unit which I was very upset about considering the fact that I picked up shift to work in that unit, And the third time was at a new facility where thankfully I was able to orient for a few hours instead of going home. I’m grateful because this was the first time in this new facility and I realized I couldn’t get into their charting system. I called my recruiter and he never answered me and I also called IT and various other people who couldn’t help me. I’m not sure what I would’ve done if I had accepted an assignment that shift As I didn’t have access to the charting system. A few days went by and again I never got a response from my recruiter. I finally called around and figure it out that my recruiter had left the company. I was so upset because my job could’ve been in the line if I had accepted an assignment that day because it seemed like no one could’ve helped me except my recruiter who ended up leaving the company and no one notified me. The past few shifts I’ve scheduled have all ended in a different way with either me going home or getting floated because Of their lack of communication with the facilities. I have another job and I have the option of picking up with them with better bonuses but I am trying to work with HEALTHTRUST and meet my PRN requirements and it’s just been such a hassle. The days that they’ve sent me home they are supposed to pay me for Some hours for the trouble of me going to the hospital and I still have not been able to have someone help me with that because every time I talk to someone they don’t seem to know what they’re doing. I am currently working on finding a new recruiter on my own since no one notified me and I’m hoping that I get someone better and hopefully could help my experience. All in all, considering that it’s an HCA Company working for for-profit hospitals, it isn’t unexpected to have a poor experience. I’ve just been so frustrated so far with everything that has happened since my first day.
Halfway through my first 13 week travel contract and it’s been a good experience so far. No issues with pay, and my recruiter has been amazing!
